Goa Police apprehended two men from Karnataka, Nashir Ahamad Tigadi from Belgaum and Mohammad Haji from Vijapura, for operating a fraudulent recruitment agency. The arrests followed complaints from job seekers who were assured high-paying overseas jobs but were instead exploited in scam call centers located in Cambodia and Thailand.
Victims stated that the suspects ran a Mumbai-based recruitment company promising jobs paying ₹1 lakh monthly. State police are now pursuing leads to locate other accomplices in this illicit recruitment syndicate. Superintendent of Police (Crime) Rahul Gupta noted that significant evidence was recovered from the suspects’ mobile devices.
Police are also urging families of individuals employed in Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, and Vietnam to verify the well-being of their relatives. They are advising anyone engaged in cybercrimes in these nations to come back promptly or risk legal repercussions from the Goa Police.
