Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Roshan said that cemetery land has already been sanctioned for Scheduled Castes in the district, and the Social Welfare Department will initiate measures to purchase land for villages still in need.
He was speaking at the District-Level Violence Control Awareness Committee meeting held at the District Collector’s Office auditorium on Tuesday.
“The Revenue and Forest Departments should jointly survey and identify cemetery land for Scheduled Communities in Londa, prepare a report, and submit a proposal. If locals come forward to provide land in Khanapur, the purchase process should be taken up,” he said.
He further suggested that SC-ST patients admitted to the district government hospital be given provisional treatment if their caste certificates are not available at admission. They should be allowed to produce them later, and if not submitted within 48 hours, the treatment charges paid should be refunded.
Committee member Karappa Gudenavara pointed out delays in filling backlog posts in the Forest Department and in granting promotions to SC-ST employees despite repeated discussions. He urged the District Collector to act immediately and ensure promotions as per rules.
City Police Commissioner Bhushan Gulabarao Borase, District Superintendent of Police Dr. Bhimashankar Guleda, Zilla Panchayat CEO Rahul Shinde, Municipal Corporation Commissioner Shubha, leader Mallesh Chaugala, committee members Basavaraj Ayatty, Vijaya Talwara, Siddharaya Maitri, and others attended.
The committee also discussed renaming the city’s RPD Circle after Veera Madakari Nayaka, but the municipal council resolved to assign it a different name.
Karappa Guden stated that all atrocity cases had been resolved at the court stage, with no compensation distribution cases pending.
Raman Gowda Kannolli, Joint Director, Social Welfare Department, was also present.
