A gruesome murder has come to light in Belgaum district, where a constable allegedly killed his ex-wife by slitting her throat and stabbing her multiple times. The crime came to notice after a foul smell spread from the house.
According to police, constable Santosh Kamble from Savadatti town murdered his ex-wife, Kashamma Nelligani (34), a KSRTC bus conductor. The couple, who had a love marriage 13 years ago, divorced six months ago following constant disputes.
Kashamma had earlier moved to her parents’ house due to Santosh’s physical and mental harassment. Despite the divorce on April 5, 2025, he reportedly continued to threaten and abuse her over the phone.
On the night of October 13, Santosh allegedly barged into Kashamma’s rented house, created a scene, and in a fit of rage, slit her throat before stabbing her three times in the stomach. Neighbours alerted the police three days later after noticing a strong odour.
Police recovered the body, sent it for post-mortem, and have launched a manhunt for the absconding accused, Santosh Kamble. The incident has caused panic in the locality.
