In a continuation of last year’s state-level festival declaration and a two-crore rupee grant for the Kittoor festival, District Collector Nitesh Patila announced plans to seek a five-crore rupee grant this time around. During a meeting with officials at the District Collector’s office, held as a prelude to the Kittoor festival, Patila disclosed the allocation of five crore rupees for the event. Kittoor MLA Babasaheb Patil has already made appeals to the Chief Minister and the relevant Minister in this regard.
This year, in addition to constructing numerous platforms in Kittur, the District Collector mentioned plans to consider constructing the main platform in Kakati village.
As is customary, various sub-committees for stages, processions, food, and exhibitions will be established to ensure the festival is well-organized. Patila urged committee members to initiate preparations promptly once formed. Furthermore, he announced another meeting scheduled for August 3rd at 4 pm at the Veerabhadreshwar Kalyana Mandap in Kittur, where discussions with the public regarding Kittur Utsav preparations will take place, and final decisions will be made.
Kittoor MLA Babasaheb Patil emphasized the ongoing efforts to secure a five-crore rupee government grant for the festival, urging proactive preparations based on last year’s expenditures. Vidyavathy Bhajantri, Deputy Director of the Department of Kannada and Culture, briefed the attendees about the Kittoor festival. District-level officers from various departments, including Belahongal Sub Divisional Officer Prabhavathi Fakirpur and Belagavi Sub Divisional Officer Shravan Nayak, were in attendance at the meeting.
