The revised proposal for the Belagavi flyover project has been submitted to the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, but approval is still pending. Bhuvneshwar Kumar, project director at the National Highway Development Authority, stated that construction will begin once the ministry grants approval.
The state government’s proposal aims to construct a five-kilometer flyover connecting Belagavi with national highways linking Maharashtra and Goa. A detailed project report was submitted earlier this year.
In June 2024, Karnataka’s Public Works Department Minister Satish Jarkiholi met with Union Minister Nitin Gadkari to discuss the project, which was subsequently approved in a meeting chaired by Gadkari on August 13, 2024. The flyover is a key part of the Rs 45 billion action plan.
