A young woman named Swathi Sridhar Sanadi (28), a native of Muthaga village in Belagavi taluk, died under suspicious circumstances at her husband’s residence in Bengaluru on July 12, 2025. Her family has alleged that she was constantly harassed by her husband and in-laws, leading to her death. The case is currently under investigation by K.R. Puram Police.
Swathi had been married to Sridhar Sanadi, an employee at a private firm in Bengaluru, for 18 months. According to her father, Ananth Shankar, Swathi faced ongoing mental harassment after marriage. She was repeatedly insulted by her husband with remarks such as, “You are not beautiful, not intelligent, and incapable of doing anything.” Swathi had reportedly confided in her father about the abuse.
On the day of her death, Sridhar informed Swathi’s family that she had taken her own life. However, when the family reached Bengaluru and saw the body, they raised doubts, suspecting foul play. They believe Sridhar, along with his mother and grandmother, were directly involved in Swathi’s death and staged it as a suicide.
Soon after a complaint was lodged, Sridhar and the accused family members went missing. Notably, Sridhar did not even attend Swathi’s funeral, further deepening the family’s suspicion.
Seeking justice, Swathi’s family approached Belagavi Police Commissioner Bhushan Gulabrao Borase, urging swift action against the accused. Commissioner Borase has assured the family that the matter will be taken seriously and a proper investigation will be conducted to ensure justice is served.
