Police have arrested a couple for allegedly killing their newborn, born out of wedlock. Mahabaleshwara Rudrappa Kamoji (31) and a 22-year-old woman had been in a relationship for three years. The woman became pregnant and successfully kept it hidden from her family. On March 5, she gave birth in the bathroom of her home.
“She had learned about self-delivery through YouTube, and Kamoji assisted her over a video call,” said Superintendent of Police Dr Bheemashankar Guled. The newborn was gagged, placed inside a box, and discarded on a garbage mound, he added. The case was solved following a detailed investigation.
