A cleanliness initiative, as part of the Swachchata Hi Seva Abhiyan: Ek Ghanta Ek Tareek campaign, kicked off at the Maratha Light Infantry Regimental Centre (MLIRC) in Belagavi on Sunday.
This endeavor saw active participation from military personnel and their families, who responded to the call for cleanliness and sanitation.
As part of this collective effort, a joint cleanliness drive was organized by the Army in collaboration with the villagers of Savgaon to restore the cleanliness of Savgaon Lake. This lake was traditionally used by the local community for the immersion of Ganesh Idols during Ganesh Visarjan.
The local community’s response to this initiative was truly overwhelming. Their synchronized efforts resulted in a remarkable transformation of the area, reflecting their commitment to both military service and community well-being. Additionally, the troops undertook weeding and bund maintenance along the ponds and tracks of Argaan Talaab.
To instill a sense of cleanliness and discipline among the young soldiers, they conducted a cleanliness drive within and around the Regimental Centre, dedicating their morning to sprucing up the surroundings.
A collaborative effort between the Army and civilian authorities also led to the cleaning of roads. The Swachchata Abhiyan spirit brought about a significant improvement in Mission Road, which had previously been in a dilapidated state. It now stands as a testament to community cooperation and serves as an inspiring example of what can be achieved through collective mobilization and a shared commitment to cleanliness and sustainability.
Families associated with the Regimental Centre also actively contributed to the cleanliness drive within the residential areas, thereby promoting the well-being of troops and fostering a culture of environmental cleanliness.
This joint effort between the Army and civilian authorities highlights the potential for synergy when different segments of society unite for a common cause. It exemplifies the transformative power of collaboration among diverse stakeholders in creating a cleaner and more sustainable India.
Such collaborative endeavors serve as inspirational instances of the nation’s collective dedication to the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and its vision of a cleaner and healthier India for all.
The Indian Army’s steadfast commitment to the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan underscores its holistic approach to nation-building. By upholding cleanliness within its ranks and extending its efforts to the broader community, the Army sets a compelling example for all citizens, serving as a source of inspiration and a testament to its role in shaping a better future for the nation.
