Dastagirsaab Kadrolli, his wife, and their four children, including a mentally ill daughter, have been staying in a village temple in Kulavalli, Belagavi district, after being evicted from their home by officials of a private finance company.
The family was removed from their residence after the company took the matter to court, citing Dastagirsaab’s failure to pay eight loan installments. The court’s eviction order was posted on the front door of the house.
Dastagirsaab had taken a ₹5 lakh loan and repaid ₹3.5 lakh. However, due to business losses, he was unable to clear the remaining eight installments. Speaking to reporters in Kittur on Sunday (February 9, 2025), he claimed a middleman had cheated him by taking ₹2 lakh from the ₹5 lakh loan without his knowledge. As a result, he now faces a ₹2.5 lakh repayment. He also alleged that the company refused to accept ₹2 lakh he raised by selling his wife’s gold chain and had seized his bike, even though no loan was taken on it.
