Women and Child Development Minister Laxmi Hebbalkar has announced plans for a state-of-the-art Bal Bhavan in the Belagavi district, inspired by the Bengaluru model. The initiative aims to support children’s health, education, and recreation, fostering their overall development.
Situated on 3 acres of prime land in Jadhav Nagar, Sulaga Village, the facility will include a science park, a fantasy park, a mini train, and a theatre. With a budget of Rs 20 crore, of which Rs 2 crore has already been released, the Bal Bhavan will serve as a hub for cultural and sports activities. “The land’s valuation at Rs 100 crore highlights its importance to the region,” Hebbalkar stated during the foundation stone-laying ceremony.
The minister also announced the construction of a district office for the Women and Child Development Department on the same site, funded with Rs 6 crore, including Rs 4 crore already sanctioned.
Hebbalkar further shared updates on Anganwadi improvements in the district, with plans for over 600 new centers and Rs 1 lakh allocated for repairing 200 rain-damaged Anganwadi. A list of centers for upgrades has also been finalized to enhance facilities for children.
This transformative project is poised to improve infrastructure for child welfare in the district, offering children a vibrant space to learn, play, and thrive.
