During the recent Orthopaedic Association of South Indian States (OASISCON) conference held in Mangaluru, a skilled surgeon from Belagavi Institute of Medical Sciences showcased a complex bone surgery.
Dr. Satish Nesari, a senior orthopaedic surgeon renowned for his expertise in the Ilizarov procedure, successfully performed a live operation during the event. The surgery involved treating a patient suffering from an infected nonunion tibia with a nail fixation.
The intricate procedure, carried out at K.S. Hegde Medical College and Hospital, was broadcast live, allowing attendees to witness the surgical precision firsthand. As of now, the patient is in the process of recovery.
In addition to the live demonstration, Dr. Nesari also presented a comprehensive paper on the surgical technique and engaged in interactive discussions with fellow delegates, as per an official statement.
