Four individuals from Belagavi, including two women and two girls, sustained injuries during a stampede on their way to the bathing ritual for ‘Mauni Amavasya’ at the Mahakumbh in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, on Wednesday.
BJP workers Sarojini Naduvinhalli and Kanchan Ghorpade, both residents of Vadgaon, along with Megha and Jyoti, suffered minor injuries in the incident. They were treated at a hospital at the Mahakumbh venue and are reportedly out of danger.
The group had departed from Belagavi three days earlier and reached Prayagraj on Tuesday evening. Meanwhile, Shivaraj Mahilande from Ghataprabha in Gokak confirmed he was safe and participated in the bathing ritual at the Triveni Sangam at dawn.
Several groups from Belagavi have been traveling to Prayagraj over the past week, using various modes of transport, including trains, flights, mini buses, and private vehicles.
