As part of the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, the Gati Shakti Department has commenced the construction of a 12-meter wide foot overbridge at the main entrance of Belagavi Railway Station, on the Londa side, linking all four platforms. This new bridge will replace the existing one, which has been deemed inadequate and inconvenient for pedestrians.
The current foot overbridge, which connects platforms 1 and 2/3, poses safety risks for passengers and headloaders, prompting its dismantling. The new bridge is a crucial measure aimed at enhancing safety and ease of movement at the station.
Spanning approximately 50 meters in length and 12 meters in width, the new structure will include escalators, lifts, ramps, and stairs for improved accessibility.
The project is expected to be completed by January 2025.
The recently installed foot overbridge at the South Entrance is located at the far end of the station (towards Miraj), causing inconvenience for passengers using platform 4. The new footbridge will resolve this issue by allowing commuters to easily navigate from one end of the station to the other on the same side, improving both safety and convenience for passengers.
