A commendable display of honesty was witnessed in Belagavi on Friday night when a traffic constable returned ₹1.5 lakh that had slipped out of a commuter’s pocket.
Constable Y. Y. Talewad from the Belagavi North Traffic Police Station, while on patrol, spotted a bundle of cash lying on the road. He soon realized it had fallen from the pocket of a youth, later identified as Abhishek Muchandi, who was riding by on his motorcycle.
Without hesitation, Talewad secured the money and traced its rightful owner. After due verification, he handed the full amount back to Abhishek, who was relieved to recover his savings.
The act not only showcased Talewad’s integrity but also sent a strong message that many in the police force remain dedicated to fairness and duty.
Expressing gratitude, Abhishek thanked the constable, while locals lauded the rare gesture as a true example of honesty in public service.
