In a swift operation, Belagavi police arrested a murder accused in Kalaburagi within 24 hours of the incident. The victim, 47-year-old Shivanagouda Patil from Baloga village in Khanapur taluk, was found dead in a deserted area near Gadikoppa village on Tuesday.
The accused, Basappa Hosatti from Beedi village in Khanapur taluk, allegedly killed the victim by striking his head with a boulder. In his haste, Basappa left behind his motorcycle at the scene. A passing farmer discovered the body and alerted the authorities.
Superintendent of Police Dr. Bhimashankar Guled, addressing the media on Thursday, confirmed that Basappa was apprehended in Kalaburagi. Khanapur police, in coordination with local officers, took him into custody. SP Guled further stated that the accused had confessed to the crime.
The investigation is ongoing, with police working to establish the motive behind the murder.
