In a surprising twist to the alleged kidnapping of a nursing student in Belagavi, the girl has revealed that she left voluntarily with her partner.
During police questioning, Rani (name changed) admitted that she was not abducted but had willingly eloped with Sadruddin, whom she is now married to and intends to live with.
Rani, hailing from a village in Belagavi taluk, had been in a relationship with Sadruddin, a construction worker, for two years. Despite her parents being aware of their relationship, they strongly opposed the marriage, prompting the couple to flee to Mumbai. Following the lodging of a kidnapping complaint by Rani’s parents, tensions escalated in the village due to their interfaith relationship. In response, miscreants vandalized Sadruddin’s house, damaging its roof, doors, and windows.
On Sunday night, Belagavi police traced the couple to Mumbai and brought them back. Upon learning her daughter’s stance, Rani’s mother collapsed in shock at the police station on Monday morning and was subsequently taken to a hospital for treatment. Sources say she had envisioned a different future for her daughter, having enrolled her in a nursing college with hopes of securing her a match in a well-established family.
