A man from Belagavi district has been awarded the death sentence for the assault, sexual abuse, and murder of a minor girl.
The convict, identified as Fakirappa Hanumappa Madar of Hanchinal village in Savadatti taluk, was sentenced by the Additional District and Sessions Court, FTSC-2 (POCSO), presided over by Judge Manu K. S.
The crime occurred on August 6, 2014, within the limits of Panambur police station. The victim, a ninth-standard student, was alone at home when the accused allegedly trespassed and committed the offence.
Special Public Prosecutor Sahana Devi Boluru represented the government during the trial.
