A special court in Belagavi has sentenced a 28-year-old man to 30 years of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of ₹10,000 in a case filed under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
Judge C.M. Pushpalata ordered the convict, Sudhakar Jyotiba Jaiba, to deposit ₹4 lakh as a fixed deposit in a nationalised bank, which the victim will be eligible to claim after five years.
According to the charge sheet filed by investigating officer R.R. Patil, the accused was fully aware that the survivor was a minor when he committed the offence. The incident occurred in 2022 in a village within the Belagavi district.
