The Belagavi Bar Association members staged a sudden strike on Monday, demanding action against individuals they allege are fake and unregistered lawyers.
Protesters formed a human chain outside the Deputy Commissioner’s office, briefly halting vehicle movement in the area.
The association claimed that some individuals without valid law degrees, Bar Council certification, or Bar Association enrollment have been practicing law. They alleged that such individuals have even filed complaints and counter-complaints against each other, calling for a thorough investigation into the issue.
The lawyers also criticized certain police officers for allegedly filing what they described as false complaints.
Senior officials, including Deputy Commissioner of Police Rohan Jagadeesh, visited the protest site to address the situation.
