On Tuesday, over 150 war-wounded soldiers gathered at the Maratha Light Infantry Regimental Centre (MLIRC) in Belagavi for a grievance redressal rally and seminar organized by the War Wounded Foundation (WWF). Established in 2002 by Lt. Gen. Vijay Oberoi, the foundation has spent the last 23 years addressing the concerns of soldiers and officers injured in combat.
The rally saw strong participation from former soldiers and their families, with attendees coming from various parts of the country. The event featured a grievance redressal session and victim assistance program, supported by numerous organizations and social service activists. Many retired soldiers took the opportunity to share their personal experiences and the challenges they faced while serving in the Indian Army.
Brigadier Joydip Mukherjee, Commandant of MLIRC, highlighted the sacrifices made by war-wounded soldiers, stating that more soldiers are wounded in battle than those who die, and their families endure lifelong hardships. He praised WWF’s continuous efforts in supporting these veterans.
Lt. Gen. Asit Mistri, President of WWF, and Brigadier C. Sandeep Kumar (Retd.), Regional Director of WWF South, also attended the seminar, reaffirming their commitment to providing assistance to injured soldiers and their families.
This initiative continues to play a vital role in ensuring that war veterans receive the respect, care, and support they rightfully deserve.
