The Umesh Vishwanath Katti Butterfly Park and the Padma Shri Tulsi Gowda Park were inaugurated near the Hidkal Reservoir in Hukkeri, Belagavi district to promote environmental awareness and conservation. This initiative is relevant amid growing concerns about climate change and global warming.
Minister Khandre highlighted that these parks are part of a larger eco-friendly initiative spanning 500 acres near the Hidkal Reservoir. Plans for future developments include a crocodile park, a bamboo garden, and a bird sanctuary.
The Umesh Vishwanath Katti Butterfly Park, named after the late politician and former Karnataka Forest Minister, seeks to instill the importance of environmental conservation among children, fostering eco-consciousness and sustainability.
The Padma Shri Tulsi Gowda Park honors the celebrated environmentalist and Padma Shri awardee Tulsi Gowda, recognizing her lifelong dedication to environmental preservation.
These eco-parks are poised to become prominent tourist destinations and educational hubs, driving awareness about conservation in the region.
