The Belagavi District Administration has launched a helpline to support travellers from the district who are stranded in West Asian nations.
Owing to the volatile situation in certain countries in the region, international flight operations have been disrupted.
Residents of Belagavi district or their family members can seek assistance by contacting the District Emergency Operations Centre at 0831-2407290, 080-22340676, 080-22253707, or the toll-free number 1070.
Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Roshan has advised travellers from the State to adhere strictly to safety advisories issued by local authorities abroad. Those facing difficulties have been asked to get in touch with the helpline of the Indian Embassy in the respective country or register on the Sarthi Sahayata portal.
Mr. Roshan further stated that individuals encountering visa-related problems should approach the nearest FRRO office.
Airspace in 11 countries, including Iran, Israel, Lebanon and Saudi Arabia, has been shut until March 2. As a result of the sudden suspension, several travellers from Karnataka remain stranded in different countries, particularly in the United Arab Emirates, including Dubai.
Following directions from the Chief Minister and the Revenue Minister, the State and District Emergency Operation Centres are operating round the clock.
Officials are closely tracking advisories issued by the Ministry of External Affairs and the Indian Embassy, according to a release.
