Deputy Commissioner Mohammed Roshan on Tuesday said that residents of Amagaon, a village situated within the Khanapur taluk sanctuary, have sought relocation and submitted a memorandum to the administration. The Khanapur tahsildar has been directed to look into the matter and file a report.
DC Roshan told reporters that Talewadi village in the same taluk had earlier been vacated under forest department regulations, with villagers shifted and provided rehabilitation. Similarly, Amagaon residents, facing lack of basic facilities, have now voluntarily agreed to move.
The village comprises over 200 families, who would have to surrender nearly 90 acres of their land for the relocation process. However, the land-for-land condition has created hurdles. Officials will review the matter and consider relocation under forest department norms. The tahsildar has been asked to investigate and submit findings.
