Activist Bheemappa Gundappa Gadad from Belagavi has filed a police complaint accusing Chief Minister Siddaramaiah of attempting to assault a senior police officer during a Congress event in Belagavi on April 28.
The complaint, submitted on Thursday at Camp Police Station, alleges that Siddaramaiah intimidated and tried to hit Additional Superintendent of Police, Dharwad, Narayan Baramani, who was on official duty during the rally.
According to Gadad, the Chief Minister lost his temper when BJP women protesters managed to wave black flags and shout slogans, including asking him to “Go to Pakistan,” despite police presence.
The incident reportedly saw Siddaramaiah raise his hand in anger toward Mr. Baramani, prompting the officer to step back on the stage.
Gadad has urged police to register a case under Section 132 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Samhita, which pertains to assault or use of criminal force against a public servant performing duty. A video clip of the episode has been submitted on a compact disc. The activist also stated plans to approach the National Human Rights Commission for further action.
