Nearly 50 individuals were hospitalized in Hoolikatti village of Savadatti taluk in Karnataka following suspected instances of food poisoning after consuming ‘prasad’ at the Bhireshwar and Karemma fair on Tuesday. The incident occurred in Belgaum, approximately 507 kilometers away from Bengaluru.
Hospitalized individuals reported experiencing stomach pain, dysentery, and vomiting. Currently, five patients are in critical condition and are receiving treatment at Dharwad District Hospital.
Health department officials are currently present in the village, overseeing a medical camp established to monitor the health of the residents.
Earlier this month, on May 5th, more than 150 individuals were hospitalized in Ramanagara district after exhibiting symptoms of food poisoning. Reports indicate that they fell ill after attending a wedding event.
The wedding ceremony took place at Milan Shadi mall in Tipu Nagar, attended by over 200 individuals, according to the police. A health official noted that guests began reporting symptoms of vomiting and diarrhea after consuming food and ice cream at the occasion.
They were promptly transported to nearby hospitals, where medical professionals diagnosed them with food poisoning. While most patients were released after receiving initial treatment, three individuals remained in critical condition.
