The Additional District and Sessions Court Special Fast Track POCSO Court-1 sentenced Huligappa Vaddara from Ugaragola village, Savadatti taluk, to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of ₹10,000. Judge C.M. Puspalata delivered the verdict on Wednesday.
The case pertains to an incident on October 13, 2021, when the accused, under the pretense of being in love, transported a minor girl to Mangalore and committed an offense against her. A complaint was filed at the Savadatti police station.
Investigating officer Manjunath Antarmani submitted the charge sheet to the court. Based on cross-examination, evidence, and supporting documents, the court found the accused guilty. The judge also directed the District Legal Services Authority to provide ₹1 lakh in compensation to the victim. Special Public Prosecutor L.V. Patil represented the government in the case.
