Market police have arrested a woman accused of stealing 68.74 grams of gold jewellery worth over ₹9 lakh from a house in Shivaji Nagar. The stolen items have been recovered.
The accused, Surekha Basavaraj Talwara (40), a resident of Uppara Galli in Khasabaga, was taken into custody. The theft had taken place at the residence of Lalita Prakash Mamdapur.
Lalita had lodged a complaint on March 9 regarding the incident that occurred in December last year. The operation was carried out under the leadership of Market Inspector J.M. Kalimirchi, with guidance from the City Police Commissioner and Assistant Commissioner of Police (Market Division) Santosh Satyanayika.
The team included PSIs Vitthal L. Havannavar and Hussain Kerura, along with ASI S.M. Shinde and staff members L.S. Kadolkar, Naveenkumar A.B., K.M. Shiledar, Vishwanath Malgi, Ashir Ahmed Jamadar, Shankar Kugatoli, Suresh Kamble, Karthika G.M., M.B. Wodeyar, Mallikarjuna Gudigoppa, M.K. Shiledar, Pratibha Gidnanavara, Neethali Koli, Savitri Godi, and technical staff.
