Three habitual offenders involved in repeated illegal activities and disturbing public peace have been externed from the Belgaum district.
City Police Commissioner Bhushan Borase issued orders to deport the three rowdy sheeters for six months for their continued involvement in criminal cases, including running matka rackets, playing ispeet, and selling ganja.
The accused have been identified as Sarfaraj Shabir Ahmed Sheikh of Shahpur, Vinayak Prakash Kollapuri of Ayodhya Nagar in Tilakwadi, and Sagar Panduranga Salagude of Basavanagalli, Hosur, Shahpur.
All three have a history of repeated offences. Sarfaraj Sheikh has 15 cases registered against him across various police stations in Belgaum city related to matka, gambling, ispeet and other crimes. Vinayak Kollapuri faces five cases linked to ganja sale and other offences, while Sagar Salagude has six cases against him, mainly for ispeet gambling and related crimes.
The Commissioner stated that, considering their habitual involvement in unlawful activities and to maintain law and order, the trio has been deported from Belagavi district to Vijayapura, Karwar and Yadgir districts for six months from March 17 under Sections 55 and 56 of the Karnataka Police Act.
He added that strict measures are being enforced to curb matka, ispeet gambling and ganja trade in Belgaum city. As part of these efforts, the externment action has been taken. He also urged the public to report such illegal activities to the nearest police station or by dialling 112.
