A young man allegedly attacked a woman and her family after she refused his marriage proposal in Kerur village of Chikkodi taluk.
The incident occurred in Belagavi district, where the accused, identified as Birappa Ramappa Kajjan, reportedly assaulted Vidyashree Killari and her family members. He is said to have first thrown salt powder into their eyes before attacking them with an iron rod and vandalising household items.
According to sources, the accused entered the house along with around ten others and attacked five members of the family, including Vidyashree’s father Mahadev Killari and her mother.
It is reported that the accused had been pressuring the family for the past two years to marry Vidyashree, and resorted to violence after his proposal was رفضed.
The injured have been admitted to a private hospital in Chikkodi, with some said to be in critical condition.
A case has been registered at Chikkodi police station, and efforts are underway to trace the accused.
