Former Karnataka MLA and AICC secretary Dr Anjali Nimbalkar received widespread appreciation, including praise from Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, for saving the life of a 34-year-old American woman who suffered a serious medical emergency on a Goa–New Delhi flight.
Soon after takeoff, the passenger complained of severe chest pain, shivering, and discomfort before collapsing and losing her pulse. Dr Nimbalkar, who was seated nearby and is medically trained, immediately intervened. She assessed the situation, coordinated with the cabin crew, and performed CPR, closely monitoring the woman’s condition for nearly one and a half hours.
Her timely intervention helped stabilise the passenger until the aircraft landed safely in Delhi, where paramedics and an ambulance were on standby to shift the woman to a hospital. She is reported to have recovered well.
Dr Nimbalkar, a former Congress MLA from the Khanapur constituency, was widely lauded by fellow passengers and airline staff for her calm and decisive response. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah praised her on X for her presence of mind and selfless service, while the Karnataka Congress said her actions reflected the party’s values of humanity and courage. The incident was widely shared on social and mainstream media, with many hailing her as a true public servant.
