Twenty-two police trainees from the Karnataka State Police Training School in Khanapura were admitted to the Taluk Hospital on Monday morning after suffering symptoms of suspected food poisoning, including vomiting, fever, and fatigue.
According to reports, the trainees, who hail from different districts and are currently undergoing a nine-month basic training programme, had consumed food from local eateries on Sunday night after the training school’s kitchen was shut for the evening. By late night, several of them began to feel unwell, prompting their admission to the hospital the next morning.
Chief Medical Officer Dr. Narayana Vaddin confirmed that all 22 trainees are being treated as inpatients and are currently stable and out of danger.
Following the incident, a complaint has been filed at the Khanapura police station. Authorities have initiated an investigation into the food consumed by the trainees, with police stating that action will be taken against those found responsible for serving contaminated food.
District Superintendent of Police Dr. Bhimashankar Guled visited the hospital on Monday evening to check on the health of the affected trainees. Music director Gurukiran was also present during the visit.
