A warder from Mysuru Central Prison has been suspended for posting an abusive video targeting Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, which has now gone viral on social media. Congress workers staged a protest near the prison on Tuesday, condemning the remarks made by the constable.
H N Madhu Kumar, a 45-year-old former army personnel serving as a warder for the past four years, allegedly recorded the 5.33-minute video on April 28, reacting to the CM’s angry gesture towards Additional SP Narayan Bharamani during an event in Belagavi. In the video, he addresses the CM disrespectfully, criticising his behaviour and accusing him of undermining the dignity of police officers.
The video surfaced publicly only on Monday, following which Mysuru Central Prison Superintendent B S Ramesh launched a preliminary inquiry and ordered Madhu Kumar’s suspension for breaching the Karnataka Civil Services (Conduct) Rules, 2021—specifically Rule 11 (i) and (ii). The rules prohibit government employees from sharing political opinions or critical content related to government policies on social media.
In his video, Madhu Kumar questions the CM’s conduct, referencing the police department’s struggles, delays in salary payments, and personal matters linked to Siddaramaiah. He also spoke about the law and order breakdown in Mysuru, citing incidents like the mob attack on Udayagiri Police Station. Declaring he was willing to lose his job, he urged viewers to circulate the video widely.
KPCC spokesperson M Lakshama has filed a complaint with the DCP (Law and Order) in Mysuru, demanding an FIR against Madhu Kumar.
