At a press conference in Belgaum, Commerce and Industries Minister M.B. Patil announced plans to create a start-up park on a 100-acre site between Belgaum and Hubballi, aimed at supporting young entrepreneurs with a dedicated space for growth and innovation.
Minister Patil emphasized the goal of replicating Bengaluru’s success as a start-up hub in this new park. He also discussed the development of an industrial corridor between Belgaum and Hubballi and acknowledged the challenges faced with the proposal for an international airport near Kittur, noting that upgrades to existing airports have complicated this plan. Despite these obstacles, the state government remains committed to improving industrial infrastructure in the region.
Additionally, Patil addressed issues with the proposed direct railway line between Dharwad and Belgaum, citing alignment problems. He mentioned recent meetings to resolve these issues and the potential for reducing train travel time between Belgaum and Bangalore by up to five hours. However, there is some resistance from the Railway Department regarding the alignment changes, and Patil is working with legislators and ministers to address these concerns.
