The Federation of Belgaum Associations (FOBA) has chosen to spearhead efforts to draw the attention of public representatives to essential developmental projects needed for the overall progress of Belgaum City.
During a recent meeting at the Foundry Cluster office building, members deliberated on the issues and compiled a list of priority works that need immediate attention.
The forum resolved to ensure that the works are pursued through public representatives at both the state and central levels. Previously, FOAB had successfully engaged district ministers, industry ministers, and other officials, as well as MPs and MLAs, to accomplish projects beneficial to Belgaum.
FOAB members primarily resolved to urge public representatives and government departments to expedite the completion of the long-delayed Belgaum Ring Road project. They also emphasized the need to operationalize the BIMS multi-specialty hospital by recruiting staff and initiating tenders for necessary medical equipment. Additionally, discussions centered on commencing construction of the ESI hospital, already approved by the central government, at the earliest. Members also proposed drawing attention from public representatives towards establishing industrial parks and offering subsidy schemes for industrialists, similar to those in neighboring Maharashtra.
Other suggestions discussed during the meeting included convening a unified meeting with local MPs and MLAs to emphasize the necessity of developing essential infrastructure using a plug-and-play model for industrial estate development. They also proposed establishing a modern sports academy, a pharmaceutical hub, and a model laboratory for the National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER) in Belgaum.
Simultaneously, members urged trade and industry associations to collaborate with FOAB. It was decided to inaugurate an official FOAB office at the Foundry Cluster building.
Present at the meeting were FOAB members Chaitanya Kulkarni, Sachin Sabnis, Parag Bhandare, Dr. HB Rajashekhar, MK Hegde, NG Kulkarni, Sandeep Chipre, SY Kundaragi, SM Meti, Amit Kalkundri, and Sadanand Humbarwadi.
