Public Works Minister and District In-charge Minister Satish Jarkiholi acknowledged errors in the land acquisition process for the Belgaum ring road project, which led to delays. However, he assured that the issues have been addressed and construction of the ring road will commence soon.
Minister Jarkiholi emphasized during the progress review meeting of the Belgaum Urban Development Authority (BUDA) that initiating tender invitations before starting any actual work is a misstep. He noted that this mistake has adversely affected the progress of the ring road.
An official meeting took place at BUDA office to initiate the commencement of the new project. The development of Kanbargi layout has been finalized. A blueprint has been readied for the creation of new layouts. “I am scheduled to convene with the authorities in the upcoming days to deliberate on the possibility of making new layouts. The realization of new layouts hinges on our ability to persuade the farmers,” he remarked.
IAS officers in Bengaluru are currently investigating allegations of irregularities within BUDA. The investigation is progressing without additional delays. Upon completion of the investigation, appropriate actions will be taken based on its findings.
The Minister underscored the importance of ensuring access to drinking water, electricity, and roads for unauthorized settlements, despite opposition. He highlighted that there is a directive mandating the provision of these essential services, irrespective of the legality of the settlement.
District in-charge minister Satish Jarkiholi chaired a progress review meeting at the BUDA office. Also present were Women and Child Development Minister Laxmi Hebbalakar, MLAs Abhay Patil and Asif (Raju) Sait, BUDA President Laxmanrao Chingale, and several officials.
