Home Minister Amit Shah criticized the Karnataka government led by the Congress on Friday for its handling of the Neha Hiremath murder case, emphasizing the need to transfer the matter to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). HM Shah made these remarks during a large public gathering aimed at rallying support for the BJP candidate contesting the Chikkodi Lok Sabha seat, Anna Saheb Jolle.
Neha Hiremath, the daughter of a Congress leader, was killed by a Muslim youth with whom she was reportedly in a ‘relationship’. HM Amit Shah criticized the Karnataka government’s handling of the Neha Hiremath murder case, stating that they are dismissing it as a personal matter.
He questioned the characterization of the incident as a personal matter, highlighting that the victim, who resisted religious conversion, was tragically killed. Shah recounted his recent meeting with Neha’s mother in Hubballi, where she recounted the pressure her daughter faced to convert to another religion.
Shah cautioned the Congress government, urging them to transfer the case to the CBI if they are unable to conduct a thorough investigation. He added that those responsible for the injustice against Neha Hiremath would face severe consequences, with the BJP committed to ensuring justice for her.
In Chikkodi, the Congress has nominated Priyanka Jarkiholi, daughter of PWD Minister Satish Jarkiholi, to contest against the BJP’s Anna Saheb Jolle.
