The Assistant Returning Officer of Kagwad has sent a notice to Raju Kage, the Congress MLA from Kagwad, for breaching the model code of conduct. Kage has been instructed to provide a response within 24 hours.
Kage was accused of discussing the personal affairs of someone else during his election campaign. Kage allegedly made casual remarks about Prime Minister Narendra Modi and criticized the PM’s youthful supporters for chanting his name. He questioned whether there was no other suitable candidate to become PM if Modi were absent.
Kage had shown frustration over the ongoing chants of Modi’s supporters during his speech at a Congress rally in Madanbhavi village, located within his electoral constituency near Belagavi. Additionally, he allegedly warned voters from Jugul and Mangavati villages of potential power outages if they didn’t provide significant support to his party.
In a statement on X, the BJP Karnataka unit criticized Kage for his comments regarding Modi, asserting that Modi became the prime minister with the support of 140 crore people in the country. The party shared video evidence of Kage’s speech and remarked, “Kagwad MLA Raju Kage has once again shown his lack of restraint in his speech. When individuals lack substantial issues to address, they resort to waiting for Narendra Modi’s demise.”
Despite his assurances of generating millions of jobs for the youth, Kage criticized the PM for not fulfilling his promises, resulting in hundreds of thousands of unemployed graduates across the country today. He remarked that when the youth requested the PM to generate employment opportunities, he suggested they sell snacks. Kage, who himself is a graduate, claimed to possess the capability to lead the country effectively as the Prime Minister of India. He noted that while many voters desire a Congress-led government in the state, they prefer Modi for the Lok Sabha elections.
