Massive landslides caused by torrential rain in different directions, including the border district of Belgaum, have resulted in the collapse of the tunnel near Dudhsagar waterfall. As a consequence, train services heading to Goa have been temporarily suspended.
A landslide near Castle Rock on the Belagavi-Goa road occurred on Tuesday night due to heavy rainfall in the district. The railway tracks have been severed as a significant amount of soil collapsed onto them.
In the vicinity of Doodhasagar Falls, the third tunnel experienced a hill collapse, leading to mud falling on the railway tracks. As a consequence, the Nizamuddin Express, en route from Goa to Delhi via Belgaum, had to be diverted through Mumbai on Tuesday night.
The train traveling from Delhi to Goa via Miraj on Sunday night could only make it to Belgaum. Subsequently, on Wednesday morning, the passengers were transferred to Goa using 16 buses. Presently, the trains are operating only up to Castle Rock.
