Renowned Belagavi-based painter Vikas Patnekar has been featured in Regards Croises, a French book authored by Petra Wauters that highlights globally acclaimed artists.
The recently released book showcases the works and profiles of ten distinguished painters from across the world. It includes a comprehensive write-up on Patnekar and reproductions of some of his notable paintings. According to a press release, the book is also set to be translated into multiple languages.
Patnekar, 60, is widely celebrated for his watercolour depictions of natural landscapes, especially water bodies.
A disciple of Kala Maharshi K.B. Kulkarni, he started drawing at the young age of five and has since built an international reputation.
In 2019, he received the Los Hombres Más Destacados Del Año international award. His artwork has been exhibited across the United States, Europe, and several cities in Asia.
He has also worked on commissioned pieces for acclaimed filmmaker Richard Attenborough and for various banks and institutions in Europe and the U.S. In addition to his professional work, Patnekar mentors aspiring artists and divides his time between Mumbai and Belagavi.
