A patient had to be carried 8 km on a stretcher through the dense forests of Kongala village in Khanapura taluk to reach a hospital. The incident, which involved crossing the overflowing Pandri River during heavy rain, has come to the attention of District Collector Mohammad Roshan.
Venkata (52), who was in poor health, was transported across the river on a stretcher due to the lack of road access. The villagers of Gunji hobli in the taluk continue to face severe challenges in getting medical help.
District Collector Mohammad Roshan stated, “We are aware of the incident. As this is a forest zone, no government development work is permitted. Efforts are underway to relocate villagers from these forest areas to settlement centers, where proper government facilities can be extended to them.”
