Amid nationwide unrest disrupting communication in Bangladesh, a group of 25 students from Belagavi, enrolled in various programs there, safely returned home with the assistance of the Indian Embassy. Worried parents sought help from Belgaum MP Jagadish Shettar and local authorities as tensions rose. Belgaum Deputy Commissioner Mohammed Roshan provided information about the stranded students to the authorities, ensuring their safe repatriation.
One medical student who returned recounted the tense conditions: “Approximately a week ago, we were advised to stay inside our college hostel due to rioters damaging mobile towers. As the situation deteriorated, we decided it was best to come back home. We reached Belgaum on August 4. If we had delayed, returning would have been much more challenging.” Another student added, “Leaving was a relief. The situation was extremely difficult and unsafe, leaving everyone mentally drained.”
