A 24-year-old Indian Navy personnel from Belagavi, Praveen Subhash Khangoudar, tragically lost his life on Thursday after his service weapon reportedly misfired while on duty in Chennai.
Praveen, originally from Kallolli in the taluk, had joined the Navy in February 2020. After serving in Kochi and Andaman, he was recently transferred to Chennai.
Praveen spoke with his parents and brother an hour before the incident over the phone. Following the tragedy, a Navy officer informed the family that Praveen died when a bullet accidentally discharged from his weapon. His body will be laid to rest in his hometown, Kallolli, at 11 am on Friday.
