A 55-year-old man from Belagavi district has been hailed as a “modern-day Shravankumar” after carrying his centenarian mother on his shoulders for 220 km to Pandharpur for the darshan of Lord Vitthal.
In Kempatti village of Raibag taluk, Sadashiva Lakshman Bane fulfilled his mother Sattevva Lakshman Bane’s (100) lifelong wish by taking her on his shoulders to Maharashtra’s Pandharpur. Despite heavy rains, he walked for nine days along the pilgrim route to Dindi and offered her darshan of Pandurang Vitthal.
A long-time devotee, Sadashiva has been visiting Pandharpur for the past 15 years. He said it was his deepest desire to carry his mother once in his lifetime to Vitthal’s temple, a wish he has now fulfilled.
