Fulfilling a long-standing vow made by Shivayogeeshwar Maharaja of Prabhudevara Betta, Jambagi in Vijayapura district, Adavilinga Maharaja of Veeraghatta in Devdurga taluk, Raichur, offered a saree worth ₹4.5 lakh to Renuka Yallamma Devi on Thursday night.
The vow dates back to 1955 when Shivayogeeshwar Maharaja had visited the Renuka Yellamma Devi temple and expressed the wish to present such a saree to the deity. Seventy years later, the promise was honoured in Kashi, Banaras, with the offering of a silk saree woven with gold threads.
Those present during the offering included Adavilinga Maharaja of Veeraghatta, Vivek Chintamani Sri, businessman Baburaya Gowda Biradar and Kalavati Biradar of Vijayapura, Gyan Sindhu Sri, and Bayalu Basaveshwara Sri.
