A significant burglary has been reported at Mahalakshmi Building, Congress Road, Tilakwadi, where valuables worth ₹27.41 lakh were stolen. The theft came to light after the homeowners returned from a family wedding to find their house ransacked.
Dattaprasad Deepak Kolvekar, the owner of the property, filed a complaint with the Tilakwadi police station. As per the report, Kolvekar and his family had traveled to Bailhongal for a wedding on December 19. Seizing the opportunity, the burglars broke through the main door to access the house.
The thieves targeted the bedroom on the first floor, forcing open a safe to steal valuables, including 311 grams of gold jewelry valued at ₹21.77 lahks, silver articles worth ₹4.80 lakh, ₹80,000 in cash, a CCTV camera worth ₹4,000, and a DVR, amounting to a total loss of ₹27.41 lahks.
The family discovered the burglary upon returning home on Friday evening. Investigators, including a fingerprint expert and a dog squad, promptly arrived at the scene. However, the burglars had taken the CCTV DVR, leaving no visual evidence of the crime.
A case has been registered, and the police are actively investigating the incident, aiming to apprehend the culprits and recover the stolen property.
